On June 19th of every year, we commemorate the liberation of enslaved individuals in the United States. In the last hundred years, the healthcare field has made great strides in innovation, yet many still receive poor and unequal care. Compared to their white counterparts in the United States, people of color have decreased access to innovative health treatments and standard care¹.
